When Alice Evans finds a bona fide movie star on the floor of her living room, she has no idea what to do. Ordinary men are frightening enough, never mind someone as famous and frankly gorgeous as Holden Stark.
However, once she realizes that Holden is suffering behind that famous facade, she knows she has to help. He needs someone like her to give him a taste of sweetness and desire and love. He needs normality. The only problem is—Alice is hiding a secret that is far from normal. In fact, her name isn’t even Alice at all.
And once Holden finds out, the intense connection they are just beginning to build may well be torn apart.
Beyond Repair is absolutely amazing. Charlotte Stein has outdone herself in this novel as she write about Alice and Holden. This book is about two people who wants to be normal by their standards, and found love, truth and each other in the process.
Honestly, I expected sparks to fly immediately when Alice and Holden meets and sooner or later, sex would be involved. This is usually what books of the similar genre would be having in their plot anyway.
So…I was wrong and quite pleasantly surprised.
I enjoyed this book very much! Both the protagonists have their own demons to face, and both wanted to be normal. Alice wants to be a normal person, being able to go out without freaking out.
Holden is a gorgeous and famous movie star who is suffering behind all that fame and to him, Alice is the person he has been waiting for – someone who actually cares whether he is alive or not, his personal well-being and not how famous he is, how much money he makes.
Funny thing about Alice, is that she can be pretty humorous without even trying. I guess that could be part of the reason why Holden finds her company enjoyable. Some might think of this story as cliché, but Beyond Repair is a wonderful read.
Two people who wants to be normal by their standards and they did. They had each other, living together in Alice’s house, doing so much normal stuff. To us, watching movies and eating snacks are our daily lives, something so mundane. Yet to them, this was something they both need – something so normal, so mundane.
I absolutely love this. A woman she can be kind, gentle and sweet and still, be a strong woman. Men are not invincible and sometimes, when they meet the right person, they don’t have to pretend to be strong or to be someone else. They can put down their guard and be kind, sweet and understanding to that person.
I must sound really cheesy or delusional, but hey, those are my thoughts!
I believe this is a standalone book, but if there was ever another sequel or short story about Alice and Holden, I would ABSOLUTELY READ IT!
Highly recommended for those who enjoy a great read with elements of emotional humour and romance!
(As for ages, if you are absolutely sure you can handle an emotional ride, then by all means, restriction won’t work for you! So go read it!)
