“I should never have asked for a night with you. This would never have happened if I’d had more willpower.”
A thief met a possession and did what he did best.
Now, he has to live with the consequences.
Including the girl he claimed.
Pimlico was stolen and sold all before her twenty-first birthday.
Two years with a master who almost killed her is over.
She has a new master now.
A master who demands everything, expects everything, and requires ultimate access to her mind.
Elder broke countless rules when he took the girl who wasn’t his.
She confuses and bewitches him, but his fascination won’t save her from his desires.
He wants to know her.
She wants to forget.
Together…they’re doomed.
OH. MY. GOD.
DOLLARS. IS. LITERALLY. PERFECTION.
Pepper Winters, best known for her dark romance novels, whose characters’ souls and personalities are wrecked inside out, have once again surprised me with her latest novel.
Her characters have a distinct style, where her male protagonists are constantly trying to outrun the demons of their past, and her female protagonists are usually ones who gets kidnapped but emerge stronger than before when they manage to break their broken shell.
The love between the characters are twisted. Or at least, it is in the world of Pepper Winters. This is part of the reason why I love dark romance, and specifically, this particular author’s novels. The only word strong enough to describe this love between the characters, is passionate.
I would suggest clearing one’s schedule for the next hour or two because once you start on Dollars, there is no stopping. Dollars will have you turning the pages and leave you hungry for more. Dollars really surprised me. It is quite different and stands out from the Monsters in the Dark and Debt Inheritance series.
I have never wished so hard upon the recovery of her mind of this author’s female protagonist as I ever had for Pim. It was literally torture, going through what Pim feels. The inner struggle between the shell she was, and the girl she used to be before her kidnapping. Pimlico against Tasmin.
Also, something unexpected was the combination between Elder Prest and his cello. I have never read a character with such musical inclination and the love he has for his music. I believe this character is one who can love passionately, but fall to the deepest bottom when the people he loves despise him.
He is surprisingly gentle, and often, his words and thoughts contradicts each other. Even till the end, when his last ounce of self-control seems to be gone, he regrets what he had done and intends to do the very thing he had promised he will never do. Just for Pim.
There is only one thing I can say about Dollars. It is a perfect read, that will leave you wanting for more, and one highly recommended for dark romance readers!
