Jackson Dean is a changed man—at least he thinks he is—but when a brush with the past leads him back into territory he’s long since left behind, he finds himself at war with his conscience. Snatching Savannah Harper from a Brooklyn street may have been okay with the wild and reckless guy he used to be, but what about now?

Savannah is used to a life of brutality at the hands of her husband, but being stuffed into the trunk of a car by a brown-eyed stranger injects a fresh wave of terror into her heart.

What transpires between Jackson and Savannah surprises both of them. Despite the unconventional way they’re thrown together, they form a bond that begins to challenge everything they know.

His Past. Her present. Their future.

Surrendering to the feelings they’ve unearthed will be a minefield, but it’s going up against the unknown that tests them to their limits.

As the lines between perception and reality blur, it appears that nothing is as it seems.

Perception is not reality… and reality can be soul-destroying.

Perception. What an apt name for one of the most enthralling novels I have ever read!

I can’t quite put my fingers to it, but something about Kendra Leigh’s writing just pulls me in and before I know it, it feels as if I was right beside the characters, experiencing what they are feeling. The pain that eats them up inside, the intense emotions of love but having to walk away, and even to the point where hope starts to blossom within Savannah!

Perception is a novel that that would capture your full attention to the very end!

I can promise this – reading Perception would definitely give you an out-of-the-world experience!

As a reader, I don’t feel as if I am just reading the words written by the amazing Kendra Leigh. No, it feels more like I am experiencing the whole thing. The different emotions running high in the characters, the decisions they made, the consequences they face… It is truly an extraordinary feeling!

I believe the author has a flair for making the first meeting between the characters an unexpected one. Nothing is as it seems. That, and also her endings are often extremely satisfying, if not more. Her novels are not just the usual hot-brooding-stranger-with-a-past meeting a terror-stricken woman who’s suffering, and rescuing her from the hellhole she’s in.

It’s not just about the connection between two people, how they helped each other to survive their nightmares, It’s also about how they find a new purpose in life, how they break free from their prison and, how they rise from the ashes, burning brightly as the idea of life taking on a new meaning blossoms in heart and mind.

What I really love about Perception, is the lesson it teaches. Not just to those who were, or who still are suffering from Savannah went through, but also those who resign to their fate, even after they have a taste of what it feels like to be free from their cages. Not every Sparrow has their Bear, but however small hope may seem, however far, grab onto it and don’t give up.

Not to give too much away, but the bond between the Sparrow and her Bear is truly my favourite! Without her Bear, she might not have been able to fly freely in the sky. When it comes to Savannah and Jackson, the intensity of their emotions is literally of the charts, and I don’t even mean the physical contact between them!

Alright, before I start going on and on, and into way too many details, there is one particular scene that I love very much. It has something to do with fire! That is just one classic scene and honestly, I could picture it in my head. The image of Savannah becoming a phoenix and rising from the ashes burns brightly in my imagination!

Enough from me! I would definitely highly recommend this novel for readers who love a little action, revenge and love in their reads!

Check out my review for my favourite novel of hers, Bound for Hell!

Review: Bella Vol. 7 by Kimberly Blalock

Bella Vol. 7 CoverTitle: Bella Vol. 7 (Sagatori Family Saga #7)
Author: Kimberly Blalock

Genre: Adult/Contemporary/Mafia Romance

All of the Kings horses and all of the Kings men couldn’t save Bella from seeking revenge once again.

I know what you’re thinking—What the hell am I doing, right?

Perhaps even I don’t know what I’m doing; perhaps this is the last of the things I will ever do to protect what belongs to me. MY FAMILY

But I will do them all the same.

Stand back and watch as this tale unfolds.

Volume 7 picks up immediately where the previous volume ends, where Bella called Ivan. This volume is focused more on Bella’s point of view, and I think it’s a great idea to spend more time in her perspective.

I feel as Bella had grown and mature in her thinking. I would say she is definitely more rational now, and honestly, I think Miss Kimberly’s style of writing has definitely changed, if anything, improved greatly as compared to the first volume.

Isabella Sagatori-Moretti is definitely not a force to be reckoned with. This time, she is prepared. So is Jax Moretti, a.k.a. The Joker. These two are not people anyone wants to cross when one tries to separate them.

There has literally been no series or characters that can captivate for as long as this. The Bella serial is the first mafia romance series, or should I say, the first series that managed to capture my attention for so long! The best thing is, with each volume, the story gets more exciting, secrets are revealed, more plot twist and best of all, CLIFFHANGERS!

Yes, each volume ends with cliffhangers that make your heart lurch even more than the previous one!

I dived into this without reading the synopsis, and personally, I actually love it. I have rarely suggest for readers to do this, but for this series? I would highly recommend so! Since each volume are rather short (although the length of each volume seems to be increasing!), the suspense is even greater as you read through the story!

My name is Abigail Summers, and I’m addicted to sex. Yes, you read right. I’m a woman that craves… no, needs to have a man take my body on a daily basis. If I don’t have sex at least once a day, my body shakes from withdrawals, my stomach cramps with unbearable pain, my sexually hazed mind goes haywire, and I become extremely irritable and a major bitch. This isn’t a lifestyle I’ve chosen for myself. It’s a struggle I deal with every single day.

I don’t do relationships, because what man wants to be stuck knowing his girl may be out f*cking some random guy if he’s not available? You may think this is something that I can control, but I say screw you; you’ve never been in my shoes before.

The cravings may be something I can’t control, but I’ve learned to embrace them. I’ve tried the sexual addiction support groups. I’ve tried curbing my appetites. I’ve been shunned, criticized, ridiculed, and called every nasty name under the sun. Well, I say f*ck all you judgmental assholes. I’ll have sex with who I want, when I want, where I want. Embarrassment? That’s a thing of the past. This is my life now, and those that don’t like it can go straight to hell.

But then he came along and screwed everything up. Colt Maverick. For once in my life, I want more, crave more from one guy. A guy that’s sweet and doesn’t match my hard interior. A guy that looks at me like he wants to eat me alive and claim me as his own. A guy that will most definitely not be okay with my addiction. A guy that I want over and over again, not because my body demands it, but because I demand it.

I now have a new addiction. But will he be enough to satisfy my uncontrollable desires?

Alex Grayson is unquestionably becoming one of my favourite author for passionate and beyond-the-normal contemporary romance!

Her stories are most definitely ones of the unconventional and interesting variety. Perhaps, to others, it could be controversial. Her characters deal with obsession and addiction, not of the drugs or gambling variety, but ones of the sexual kind. To me, her stories feel like contemporary romance, with certain dark romance elements in it.

Her stories are, without a doubt, unique and one-of-a-kind.

My first novel from this author was Endless Obsession and I started it out of curiosity. How would someone react when she realise she was literally being stalked by the person she thought she knew and loved? How was the story going to end? Many questions ran through my head and I was glad that I’ve picked up that novel!

Moving onto Always Wanting, it is definitely a story with different form of addiction. The main protagonist, Abigail, has hypersexual disorder. Her withdrawal symptoms are similar to addicts who did not get their fix. It is really painful to read when she goes through them, and my heart just breaks for her, especially when one reads from Colt’s point of view.

Despite what she says, Abigail is someone who wants what she believes she will not ever have. That is, until Blue, a.k.a. Colt Maverick came along. I was literally just gripping onto my phone as I read through the story on my kindle app. I wanted Abigail to have the life she deserves.

Also, something I’m curious about is Colt’s sister, Tera, and Lukas. From Colt’s view, Lukas seems malicious but somewhere in between, it seems what Tera and Lukas have is real and not something others can understand. I’m definitely keeping an eye out to see if there are more stories to be told!

This book is definitely filled with sex, and lots of it. There are unconventional ways in which things are done, but I do recommend giving this novel a read! It is highly recommended for readers who would love a novel with elements of both contemporary and dark romance!

Review: Dollars by Pepper Winters

“I should never have asked for a night with you. This would never have happened if I’d had more willpower.”

A thief met a possession and did what he did best.
Now, he has to live with the consequences.
Including the girl he claimed.

Pimlico was stolen and sold all before her twenty-first birthday.
Two years with a master who almost killed her is over.
She has a new master now.
A master who demands everything, expects everything, and requires ultimate access to her mind.

Elder broke countless rules when he took the girl who wasn’t his.
She confuses and bewitches him, but his fascination won’t save her from his desires.

He wants to know her.
She wants to forget.
Together…they’re doomed.

OH. MY. GOD.

DOLLARS. IS. LITERALLY. PERFECTION.

Pepper Winters, best known for her dark romance novels, whose characters’ souls and personalities are wrecked inside out, have once again surprised me with her latest novel.

Her characters have a distinct style, where her male protagonists are constantly trying to outrun the demons of their past, and her female protagonists are usually ones who gets kidnapped but emerge stronger than before when they manage to break their broken shell.

The love between the characters are twisted. Or at least, it is in the world of Pepper Winters. This is part of the reason why I love dark romance, and specifically, this particular author’s novels. The only word strong enough to describe this love between the characters, is passionate.

I would suggest clearing one’s schedule for the next hour or two because once you start on Dollars, there is no stopping. Dollars will have you turning the pages and leave you hungry for more. Dollars really surprised me. It is quite different and stands out from the Monsters in the Dark and Debt Inheritance series.

I have never wished so hard upon the recovery of her mind of this author’s female protagonist as I ever had for Pim. It was literally torture, going through what Pim feels. The inner struggle between the shell she was, and the girl she used to be before her kidnapping. Pimlico against Tasmin.

Also, something unexpected was the combination between Elder Prest and his cello. I have never read a character with such musical inclination and the love he has for his music. I believe this character is one who can love passionately, but fall to the deepest bottom when the people he loves despise him.

He is surprisingly gentle, and often, his words and thoughts contradicts each other. Even till the end, when his last ounce of self-control seems to be gone, he regrets what he had done and intends to do the very thing he had promised he will never do. Just for Pim.

There is only one thing I can say about Dollars. It is a perfect read, that will leave you wanting for more, and one highly recommended for dark romance readers!

Review: Amore Part 1 by Bella Jewel

“It is not love that defines us, Julietta. It is love that destroys us.”

I’m just a normal girl.
Or so you would think.
I’ve never thought of myself as anything different.
Until I met him.

He doesn’t think I’m normal.
He thinks I’m special.
Special enough to be in his life.
Special enough to enter his world.
Special enough for his bed.

Rafael Lencioni. Dangerous. Beautiful. Terrifying.
My story is the one that’s never told.
I’m not the daughter.
I’m not the wife.
I’m not the forbidden lover.
I’m not a sister or a mother.
I’m not who you think I am.

So for me to fit into their world, I have to do something I never wanted in my life.
Something I would have frowned upon until I met him.

I have to change who I am.
I have to shut down my heart.
I have to accept my place.
My body belongs to him.
My heart isn’t permitted to.
Those are his rules.
But rules were made to be broken…right?

Amore has got to be one of the best mafia romance novel I have ever read!

First, let’s talk about the characters! Oh my god, I am literally just fangirling over them right now!

Meet Julietta. She is not your average badass and strong headed female protagonist in a mafia romance…actually, make that any other novel for that matter! She is one of the sassiest character I have ever read about, and I truly wish I could actually sit down and drink some tea with her!

To me, she is a very interesting character. Someone who literally does not care about what others think of her, do what she wants without caring too much about the consequences. Some might say she is impulsive, but this is what intrigues me! I mean, can you imagine making funny faces at a club owned by the mafia just for the sake of fun?!

Told you guys, Julietta is one amazing woman!

Rafael Lencioni. Hot. Sexy. Dangerous. Leader of the mafia.

You haven’t meet a dominant and powerful, hot-as-hell alpha who radiates power just from his presence till Rafael Lencioni. He can be the ultimate boss of all mafia if he wants to!

Rafael is an interesting man. Besides his obvious sexual prowess, his emotions are something else entirely. A man who marries to keep his position, like an arranged marriage, but he doesn’t treat his wife like an invisible person even if he had no romantic feelings towards her. In fact, he cherished her.

Weird right? One would expect a man such as Rafael to be completely cold towards his arranged wife, and be completely smitten with the true love of his like.

Which is true, he is completely intrigued and smitten with Julietta.

Then again, Amore is a very different mafia romance novel!

There is almost nothing that I don’t like about Amore. I love this novel so much and I do highly recommend lovers of mafia romance, and any other romance novel readers to read this!

Review: Tempt Me by Roxy Sloane

Tempt Me CoverTitle: Tempt Me (The Temptation #1)
Author: Roxy Sloane
Release Date: October 3rd 2016
Publisher: Self-Published
Genre: Adult/Contemporary Romance
Source: Author
Format: eARC
Rating: 5 stars

From USA Today bestselling author Roxy Sloane comes a filthy, seductive new duet. Spare panties and extra batteries definitely required!

I’ve never fucked a woman who didn’t lie.

Not to me. When I’m grinding eight inches deep up against your G-spot, you can bet you won’t have the mind to remember your own name. No, I’m talking about the next guy. And everyone who’s unlucky enough to come after me.

“That’s right, baby. You’re the best.”

“Nobody’s ever gone so deep.”

And this one, the classic. The biggest fucking whopper to ever cross a woman’s lips:
“Size doesn’t matter. It’s what you do with it that counts.”

Right, love. Say that again with a straight face once I’ve stretched you so wide, you’re begging me to stop and screaming for more, all in the same goddamn breath.

Go on, I dare you.

We’ve all got our secrets, but it just happens to be my job to figure yours out. I’m the best in the business, and I never back down.

But this case is different. This girl is different.

I don’t just want her secrets. I want everything.

The Queen of all things sexy-and-filthy is back in the game!

This time, it’s Jase Banner, a smoking hot private investigator, with an equally sexy and filthy-as-hell body and voice meant to dirty talk and charm the soul (let’s not forget panties!) out of women, and Chloe Archer, the sweetest, sexiest and funniest junior estate agent, a woman who deserves the best after everything she has been through.

I just want to say Roxy Sloane writes the sexiest and the filthiest romance that makes me want to read over and over again!

I don’t know how she does it, but in all her stories, there will always be that one sex scene that is hot as hell and all those after that? Animalistic and sexy as f***! Yes, that is definitely one of the many reasons why I love reading her stories!

(It’s actually one of my favourite thing about Roxy and her stories!)

I love the wicked humour her characters possess and the filthy-but-sexy-as-hell words that comes out of their mouth. In Miss Sloane’s world, dirty talking is the equivalent of foreplay. No hands, no body contact, just lots of dirty, filthy, and sexy words.

Every story written by Roxy Sloane should not be missed!

Tempt Me is a little similar to The Seduction. What with private investigators being sexy as f***, and falling for their ‘target’. Yet, it is also somehow entirely different, with Chloe and Jase.

Unexpected plot twists, unexpected love, unexpected betrayal. Get ready for one hell of a ride!

Tempt Me is definitely one story romance readers will not want to miss! Highly recommended for contemporary romance readers who loves a good love story with all the excitement and hot moments all present in one!

(May I also recommend that as a reader, you should prepare the second novel in The Temptation Duet? You will need it IMMEDIATELY after reading Tempt Me!)

Review: Bella Vol. 6 by Kimberly Blalock

Bella Vol. 6Title: Bella Vol. 6 (Sagatori Family Saga #6)
Author: Kimberly Blalock

Genre: Adult/Contemporary/Mafia Romance

Rating: 4 stars

One by one the pieces to the puzzle fall into place, this epic tale of lies and deceit become clear and yet so blurred. The lines I cross are without the protection I know I’ll need or the strength to survive the destruction my past will leave me in the center of.

There is one thing that I am positively sure after reading six volumes of the Bella serial.

That is…if the pace of this serial gets any faster, and filled with more plot twists that it already has (oh and let’s not forget the cliffhangers!), I am going to need some serious braces to support my neck and some mental support please!

If you think it’s impossible for a serial, and one that is being broken down into twelve parts at that, to have plot twist in each volume, then you are in for the biggest surprise of your reader’s life!

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF KIMBERLY BLALOCK!

Where the pace of her stories will leave you feeling as if you have just run a marathon, and one that you are not able to stop until you reach the end!

Where her stories and plot twists will bring joy and pain to you, and leave you wanting more!

I guess this means life as an avid fan of Miss Kimberly’s stories isn’t easy!

In the sixth volume of Bella, Bella and Jax have a strained relationship but it still made them love each other even more. What I think they need, is marriage counselling. Sounds funny, yes? Unfortunately, it’s either that or Jax really have to work on their communicating skills!

Yeah, yeah, I know. Jax was trying to protect her, but what I do think is that, if Bella doesn’t know the truth, not only would she be unable to protect herself, the relationship would never move forward.

Of course, this story doesn’t just focus on that, but vol. 6 is a volume where the truth about Isabella Sagatori will be revealed and all the questions one has in the previous will have an answer.

By now, most of you must have realise the author loves to end each of her volume with another plot twist so heads up, this volume ends the same way!

Although in the end, I do have even more questions and I am currently trying my best to wait p-a-t-i-e-n-t-l-y for the next volume!

I am definitely grabbing the next part in this serial when it’s released!

Recommended for all mafia romance readers!

Review: Bella Vol. 5 by Kimberly Blalock

Bella Vol. 5 CoverTitle: Bella Vol. 5 (Sagatori Family Saga #5)

I know Bella in every way you could possibly imagine, but she doesn’t know me, not as well as I want her to. I have a secret I couldn’t bare her finding out. This secret is hiding in the darkness of my past and it’s fueling a war with the Bratva.

This is it. I am officially naming Miss Kimberly Blalock as the Queen of Plot Twists and Cliffhangers!

I am a huge fan of both Miss Kimberly’s stories and characters. Something about this author and her love for torturing both her characters and readers makes her story stands out! Sounds sadistic, I know, but it is the truth!

In this volume, what Bella and Jax needs, is to sit their butts down and communicate. Seriously, the way they flip their faces on each other, it’s faster than a person flipping the pages of a book!

Vol. 5 may very well be my favourite after the third volume because it shows more of Bella and Jax, especially Jax, and their feelings!

Bella Sagatori and Jax Moretti are one of the few characters in a novel that has such an emotional depth. Usually, a novel will most slightly have one that has a dark past, or feels strongly about certain things, but this feeling is always amplified in Kimberly’s stories.

One thing’s for sure, she loves leaving her readers wanting for more with each Bella serial!

Perhaps, some might lose interest in a particular series after each part takes too long, or maybe because there are too many parts to it, to be released. That is not the case for the Sagatori Family Saga series!

No, it leaves you wanting and begging for more!

What I can tell you is this, Bella vol. 5 ends with a cliffhanger but this time, it’s bomb-worthy cliffy!

What I will not tell you, IS THE CONTENT OF THE BOMB!

Dear readers, this may be the fifth volume in the serial, but the story between Bella, Jax, the Sagatoris and the Famiglia is just starting!

I hated him for the things he took from me. I hated him for the love he refused me. But after all of the hate and anger, I knew without a doubt that I was irrevocably in love with Jax Moretti. I’m a woman born into a man’s world. I’ve stood tall and held my own knowing the people that wanted my family in the ground, weren’t far behind and soon they’d be exactly where I want them to be.

My name is Isabella Sagatori-Moretti. I will protect my family.

Bella Vol. 4 is a tale of how love can empowers one to be so strong, that no one can stop her from doing what she wants, even if the world she lived in does not allow women to take control.

Lots of things happens in this volume of Bella, and it is definitely one novel you will not want to miss!

Just a warning though, as a reader, you might want to brace yourself because this is a rollercoaster ride of feels!

Isabella Sagatori-Moretti is one woman you would definitely not want to piss off, or harm any of her family. She is caring, fearless, strong and cold when she needs to be. I do have to admit, she is kind of reckless though!

Jax Moretti…OH JAX MORETTI.

That is all I have to say until spoilers starts flying out!

Bella vol. 4 is going at such a fast pace, that I have trouble believing it when I finish the book! I mean, I read faster than I ever did with the previous volume which had less than 100 pages?!

Strange? I think not!

I prefer to think of this as one of Miss Kimberly’s amazing skills to write, amongst others!

I have to say this was a little rushed. While I understand that it is a part of a serial, I do feel that more things could have been elaborated, more emotions or words, or the story.

This author have a way of writing that will intrigue you and pull you into her stories!

This novel is definitely recommended for all mafia romance readers!

Review: Pennies by Pepper Winters

Pennies CoverTitle: Pennies (Dollar #1)
Author: Pepper Winters
Release Date: July 11th 2016
Publisher: Self-Published
Genre: Adult/Dark Romance/Erotica
Source: Author
Format: eARC
Rating: 5 stars

“At 18 I had pennies, but money didn’t make me bold. At 19 I had dollars, but it didn’t dull the pain of being sold. At 20 I had hundreds, but then I met him and was found. At 21 I had thousands, but all I wanted was to be bound.”

“At 23 I had dollars, but life changed and made me rich. At 25 I had hundreds, but it wasn’t enough to stop my killing itch. At 27 I had thousands, but my reputation didn’t set me free. At 29 I had millions, but I met her and could finally see.”

Tasmin was killed on her 18th birthday. She had everything planned out. A psychology degree, a mother who pushed her to greatness, and a future anyone would die for. But then her murderer saved her life, only to sell her into a totally different existence.

Elder went from penniless to stinking rich with one twist of fate. His lifetime of crime and shadows of thievery are behind him but no matter the power he now wields, it’s not enough. He has an agenda to fulfill and he won’t stop until it’s complete.

But then they meet.

A beaten slave and a richly dressed thief. Money is what guided their separate fates. Money is what brought them together. And money is ultimately what destroys them.

She was poor.
He was rich.
Together…they were bankrupt.

This might just be the best novel Miss Pepper Winters has ever written!

Pennies has touched me in ways I have never felt from reading any dark romance novels before, and something about Tasmin and Elder Prest draws me into them so deeply, just like how I felt for Q and Tess!

Pepper Winters is an author whose novels gets better with each novel she writes!

To me, she is one of the best dark romance writer whose level of darkness (combined with unbreakably-strong female characters, and hot-alphas who exudes confidence by standing in a corner), raised the bar for many dark romance reads out there. Yet with each novel and series she writes, she breaks her own bar!

I have read almost all of the books written by this author, and I love all of them! I do have to say that my favourite is definitely the Monsters in the Dark series, but this new series might just be my favourite too!

Pennies is not the darkest novel written by our dear Queen of Darkness just yet, since it is the first in the series, but emotional and complexity of characters wise? Oh yeah, it has reached way past that stage!

Each character written by an author will always be different. Yet, in Pennies, the level of uniqueness is completely different! Tasmin and Elder Prest are two very intriguing characters, whom I would definitely want to find out more!

Did I also mentioned that the Queen of the dark romance genres, Miss Pepper Winters, is also the Queen of…no wait, make that the God! Yes, the God of Cliff-hangers?!

Seriously, every time when the story is getting really, really good, IT STOPS!

I see myself crying over the Dollar series and its cliffhangers until all the novels in the series has been released!

Highly recommended for all dark romance readers to read Pennies! Be warned! Tasmin and Elder Prest are not your typical dark romance protagonists!
